AZERBAIJAN AND US ENHANCE COOPERATION IN INFORMATION - COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES

Ali Abbasov, Azeri Minister of Communication and Information Technologies met with US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish as the latter completes his diplomatic mission in the country, the Ministry's press-service announced. The Ambassador appreciated the Ministry's large-scale work in the area of communication and information technologies, and expressed gratitude for resolving the problems the Azerbaijan-American Joint Venture of CATEL.

The sides pointed out the significance of the grant agreement signed between Azerbaijan and US Trade and Development Agency, as well as discussed the visit Ali Abbasov will pay to the United States in July, 2006, during which a memorandum is to be signed between them.

Mr. Harnish expressed confidence that Azerbaijan would achieve more success in the area of information and communication technologies, and highly valued the work done by the Ministry to establish cooperation with American companies.

The Minister, in his turn, wished the Ambassador every success in his further activity adding that Azerbaijan is keen in enhancing the cooperation with American ICT companies.
