Greek media highlights expansion of energy cooperation with Azerbaijan

A number of leading Greek media outlets have broadly covered the talks held in Athens regarding the expansion of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece.
The publications “iefimerida,” “iEnergeia,” and “Parapolitika” focused on the meeting held in Athens between Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov.
According to Greek media reports, the main topics of discussion were the further strengthening of energy cooperation between the two countries, enhancing European energy security, diversifying natural gas sources and supply routes, as well as the development prospects of the Southern Gas Corridor.
The publications paid special attention to Greece's growing role as a regional energy hub. It was reported that, alongside diversifying energy sources, Athens attaches major importance to the development of new energy routes connecting countries in the region.
In this context, the Greek side highlighted the strategic importance of the Vertical Corridor. It was noted that the project could contribute to expanding access to alternative energy sources for countries in Southeastern and Central Europe and strengthening the energy security of the region.
Reports in the Greek media emphasized that cooperation with Azerbaijan is not limited solely to natural gas. The sides also reviewed new cooperation opportunities in renewable energy, energy transition, clean energy technologies, and the exchange of experience.
