AZERBAIJAN OPENS CONSULATE GENERAL IN YEKATERINBURG
Yekaterinburg, May 13 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan has inaugurated its Consulate General in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Speaking to the opening ceremony, Council General Sultan Gasimov said the inauguration of the consulate coincides with Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev`s 87th anniversary.
“The national leader laid strong foundations for the Azerbaijan-Russia relations.”
Gasimov expressed confidence the opening of the Consulate would contribute to “intensifying the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia`s Sverdlovsk oblast”.
“Our cooperation is based mostly on trade, economy, science and culture. Trade between Azerbaijan and the oblast has increased despite the world financial crisis.”
Sverdlovsk Governor Alexander Misharin said “the opening of Azerbaijan`s diplomatic representation in Ural is an important step towards strengthening our relations, and demonstrates our region`s openness for international relations”.
Misharin praised the Azerbaijani diaspora`s contribution to developing “all spheres of life in the region”.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu thanked Sverdlovsk oblast`s government for support “shown to us while we were working to open the consulate general”.
He stressed: “The Consulate General will contribute to expanding and deepening the Azerbaijan-Russia relations.”
“Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk oblast are playing a special role in the Russia-Azerbaijan relations, and these constructive relations are being supported on the high level”.
