AZERBAIJAN RECEIVES FIRST PART OF EU GRANT FOR BUDGET SUPPORT
Baku, September 17 (AZERTAC). European Union has allocated a grant to Azerbaijan in the amount of EUR 3m for budget support, the EU Baku office said in a statement.
“This is the first part of EUR 14m to be allocated by EU to Azerbaijan within this program,” the statement says.
The means of the first part will be used for support of state efforts on development of the national energy strategy. “The aim of assistance is support in provision of transparency and development of the energy system. The program of budget support is also aimed at ensuring energy effectiveness and developing resumed energy sources in Azerbaijan”, the news release says.
The program of budget support envisions allocation of EUR 14m in three stages within three years. This program is part of the EU National Indicative Program on Azerbaijan for 2007-2010 which is estimated at EUR 92m.
