Azerbaijani Ombudswoman attends regional conference in Korea
Baku, October 18 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova participated in the regional conference on business and human rights of the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in Seoul, Korea.
Addressing the meeting of the International Coordinating Committee (ICC) Bureau, Elmira Suleymanova provided information on Azerbaijan Ombudsperson`s activity touching upon cooperations with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and ICC.
The event was co-organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Asia Pacific Forum (APF) of NHRIs.
The three-day meeting brought together representatives from NHRIs, international organizations, business associations, government and NGOs.
The discussions featured emerging regional trends and issues in human rights and business, the training needs of NHRIs and other strategies to bolster their capacity to engage and advise the corporate sector on human rights issues and the steps that NHRIs can take to implement the framework`s Guiding Principles and shared examples of good practice from across the region.
Meetings of the ICC Bureau and the ICC Working Group on Business were held in conjunction with the regional conference.
