AZERBAIJAN`S AMBASSADOR TO CANADA VISITS VANCOUVER
Baku, September 21 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Canada Farid Shafiyev has visited the city of Vancouver in the province of British Columbia.
Shafiyev met here Minister of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development Iain Black, Vice Minister Don Fast, officials of Vancouver Mayor`s Office, Director of Vancouver Board of Trade Grayden Hayward and Director of Vancouver Economic Development Commission John Tylee.
The talks focused on prospects for trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the province of British Columbia.
The ambassador also met workers of the University of British Columbia. He stressed the necessity of development of cooperation between the University and Azerbaijan`s higher education institutions.
A presentation of Azerbaijan`s economy and investment opportunities was held with the participation of heads of several small and middle-sized enterprises operating in Vancouver. The presentation was organized by the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association.
During the presentation, Shafiyev spoke of the economic projects carried out in Azerbaijan and existing business opportunities in the country.
The Azerbaijani ambassador also visited Surrey, the second largest city of British Columbia where he met president of the Board of Trade Nigel Watkinson. The discussions revolved around issues regarding the business relations.
The diplomat also met members of the Azerbaijani community in Vancouver. He also gave interview to CKNW radio station in the city.
