Azerbaijan`s Transport Minister meets Latvian FM

Baku, February 25 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov has met Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvics.
The Azerbaijani Minister briefed Rinkēvics on the economic reforms being carried out in his country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Mammadov noted transport sector is developing dynamically in the country. He said major projects are being carried out in Azerbaijan to increase the country`s transit potential.
Mammadov also said Azerbaijan-Latvia relationship falls short of its potential. He added the Azerbaijani government puts special emphasis on development of relationship with Latvia.
The Minister also spoke of the progress made in the country under the State Program on development of the railway system in Azerbaijan in 2010-2014.
For his part, Edgars Rinkēvics praised the accomplishments made in Azerbaijan in all spheres. He underscored the necessity of strengthening transport cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
