Baku, August 25 (AZERTAC). A police officer from Baghdad said on Wednesday that a car bomb went off outside a police station in Baghdad, leaving 45 causalities in its wake.

In a statement to AKnews, Ali Mohammed from the Mahmoudiya police station said that a man driving a car laden with explosives blew up his vehicle at the entrance to the Qahera neighborhood police station to the west of Baghdad.

"The blast killed 11 people, including policemen, and there are also 34 wounded people," he added.

Mohammad went on to say that the first aid and emergency teams rushed to the scene to transfer the victims to hospital.

Fearing another planned bombing, the security forces cordoned off the area, he remarked.

Mohammed warned that the death toll may rise because some of the victims are seriously injured.
