CIS MISSION TO OBSERVE PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
Moscow, September 3 (AZERTAC). The CIS Executive Committee sent appropriate letters to the countries of Commonwealth with the request to give lists of those who will be accredited as observers on parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan in November current year.
On parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan which are planned for November 7, also will be observing the OSCE and the Council of Europe. The Executive Committee said it plans to direct two missions of observers - long-term and short-term missions. The long-term mission will arrive in Azerbaijan long before elections for the purpose of supervision over the election campaign. Following the results of monitoring, the mission will prepare a report on pre-election situation in the country.
Short-term mission which is headed by the Executive Secretary of the organization Sergey Lebedev, will arrive in Azerbaijan some days before voting, the CIS Executive Committee said. Along with it, in the near future the Executive Committee will create a headquarters of the mission of observers in Baku.
The inter-parliamentary assembly of the CIS plans to observe separately parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
The previous elections in country legislature have taken place in November 2005.
