DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN VISITS CANADA
During his 2-day visit to Canada, Mr. Azimov held discussions with his Canadian colleague Jim Wright and other high rank officials. The goal of visit is to hold with the Canadian officials consultations in military-political and security fields. In the course of meetings, the Embassy spokesman said, also is expected to focus on issues of combat against global terrorism and organized crime, situation on the South Caucasus, the Azerbaijan-Canada partnership in the frame of NATO, OSCE and other international organizations, as well as other questions representing mutual interest.
The parties emphasized necessity of mutual visits for activation of cooperation between two countries. On 27 March, Araz Azimov made a report at the Carleton University in Ottawa. On 28 March, he is expected to deliver a lecture at the Quebec University in Montreal. Both lectures are devoted to “Safety on the Caspian Region”.
‘This is the first visit of the Azeri delegation at such level to Canada’, Ambassador Gurbanov said. At his words, the Canadian side is much interested in Azerbaijan. ‘We ascertained a range of mutual interests’, he underlined.
