Deputy PM: Moldova welcomes Azerbaijan’s initiative and leadership in peace process

On March 6, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova.
The sides noted that the high-level political relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova create broad opportunities for cooperation across various fields, emphasizing that reciprocal visits of heads of state and government officials play an important role in deepening relations between both countries and their peoples. They also hailed mutual support within international organizations.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated that cooperation within international parliamentary organizations continues successfully, with Azerbaijani and Moldovan deputies demonstrating mutual support. She condemned the drone attacks by Iran on Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, stressing that these assaults are unacceptable and have caused great outrage among the Azerbaijani people.
Mihai Popșoi stated that Moldova firmly condemns the attacks and stands in solidarity with Azerbaijan.
The parties underlined that Azerbaijan and Moldova demonstrate mutual support on issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Popșoi expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support during Moldova’s energy crisis.
Speaker Gafarova briefed the Moldovan Deputy PM on the ongoing normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Mihai Popșoi emphasized that Moldova welcomes Azerbaijan’s initiative and leadership in the peace process.
The officials also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest.
