Indian representative: Urbanization reducing green and public spaces
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
“Public and green spaces in urban areas are of great importance. However, with rapid urbanization, these spaces are gradually decreasing, despite once being an integral part of city life and serving as common areas where people from diverse cultural backgrounds came together to celebrate festivals and engage in social interaction,” Aishwarya Gupta, a member of India’s civil society network and a non-governmental organization, told AZERTAC.
She noted that public spaces are shrinking as cities increasingly prioritize infrastructure and construction. She also highlighted that green areas and water bodies are being lost due to development in environmentally sensitive areas.
