MILLI MAJLIS MEMBERS MEET LITHUANIAN DELEGATION
Baku, August 17 (AZERTAC). Members of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy met Monday the Lithuanian delegation headed by Arunas Valinskas, chairman of Resurrection Party and member of Lithuanian Seimas` Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Chairman of the Committee Ziyad Samadzade said both Azerbaijan and Lithuania were developing dynamically.
He said Azerbaijan plays significant role in energy security of Europe.
According to Samadzade, the global financial crisis has bypassed Azerbaijan as a result of the economic policy laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
He noted two years ago President Ilham Aliyev instructed relevant state bodies to prepare anti-crisis measures and certain steps have been taken in this direction.
Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Samadzade said Armenia, not honoring the norms and principles of international law, still continues to occupy Azerbaijan`s territories. He added the conflict poses a serious obstacle to Azerbaijan`s development.
For his part, Valinskas said Azerbaijan had been rapidly developing after it regained independence. He noted Azerbaijan had suffered the least from the global financial crisis.
He praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, adding the two countries have great potential to develop it even more.
The sides discussed other issues of mutual interest.
