Namibian cities to adopt integrated digital platform for public services

“Namibia has begun a step-by-step process, in cooperation with partners, to digitize public services in cities including Windhoek and Swakopmund,” said Technology and Innovation Specialist, Livia Schaeffer Nonose, in her remarks at a session titled “Just Transitions in Practice. Co-Creating Digital Tools for Informality and Crisis” held as part of the WUF13.
She emphasized that the project envisions managing various municipal and public services through a single unified system. According to her, analyses with partners show that integrating information on different public services into one platform would be highly beneficial.
“Analyses conducted with partners suggest that a system integrating information on various public services into a single platform could be highly beneficial. Such a platform would enable real-time tracking of service requests, including issues such as meter malfunctions, water supply repairs, and other municipal services,” she added.
