Nasimi and Switzer Highland become sister districts
San Diego, October 20 (AZERTAC). Nasimi district of Baku and Switzer Highland neighborhood of San Diego have built sister relations.
The decision was adopted in a meeting of the City Council of San Diego.
San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and member of the City Council Todd Gloria presented a special declaration to Governor of Nasimi district Nasib Mahamaliyev and MP from this district Asim Mollazade signed by the Council members on building sister relations between the districts.
Given the willingness of public in respective districts in the United States and Azerbaijan to build ties in a number of fields, San Diego city mayor and City Council declared Nasimi District of Baku and Switzer Highland neighborhood of San Diego sister districts and noted that these relations will contribute to closer relations between communities in both neighborhoods.
At a ceremony held in the City Council, San Diego Mayor and members of the City Council noted that building sister relations between Nasimi District and Switzer Highland neighborhood is timed with the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence and congratulated the Azerbaijani people on this occasion.
On its part, the Azerbaijani delegation thanked for congratulations and sister relations with the district of Baku.
MP Asim Mollazade also delivered a lecture at the San Diego State University.
