PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES ITALIAN DELEGATION LED BY MINISTER OF JUSTICE
The Head of State emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Italy are successfully developing. Recalling his last year’s official visit to Italy, he noted that a wide range of issues concerning cooperation between the two countries in various fields were discussed during it.
President Ilham Aliyev said that an intensive Azerbaijan-Italy dialogue is currently underway at various levels, and expressed hope that the visit to Baku by the Italian Minister would contribute to development of the bilateral relations.
Minister Roberto Castelli highly valued the current state of the Azerbaijan –Italy relationship, and expressed confidence in its further development. He described the President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Italy as very successful, noting its importance in terms of enhancement of cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister then presented a letter from Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to the Azerbaijani leader. In the letter, Mr. Berlusconi said, in particular, that he always remembers his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in 2005 in Rome, and that the visit really fostered development of cooperation between the two countries. He described the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main oil pipeline as a one more evidence of progress achieved in political and economic life in Azerbaijan, especially in energy field in which Italian companies are also involved.
On behalf of the whole Italian people, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi extended to the Azerbaijani leader best wishes for new democratic, economic and social achievements of Azerbaijan on the path of its full integration into Europe. In this context, he expressed his country’s readiness to provide every assistance to Azerbaijan. The Italian Premier also noted that Italian business is very hopeful about the future of Azerbaijan, and that there are many Italian companies, which are keen in making investments in the country.
