PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVES DELEGATION LED BY ICRC PRESIDENT JACOB KELLENBERGER
Head of the Azerbaijan State emphasized importance of the visit from the point of view of familiarizing with the processes ongoing in Azerbaijan, in particular, the plight of Azerbaijanis who became refugees and IDPs as a result of Armenian aggression, the problems they encounter and the steps undertaken by the country for their elimination. Noting that the plight of refugees is the major social problem in country, President Aliyev said the state and government take necessary measures to solve their problems. The quickly developing economy of country will promote in solving all the social problems, he underlined.
Mr. Jacob Kellenberger said he had visited Azerbaijan first as the state secretary of foreign affairs of Switzerland in 1995, and with pleasure recalled his meeting with the nationwide leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.
The guest noted the alterations taken place in the country after his first visit, expressing delight with accomplishments reached in economy of the country. He also stressed importance of the actions the government of Azerbaijan takes to solve the problem of refugees and IDPs, in particular, the construction of settlements for them.
