Priorities of Azerbaijani foreign policy discussed in Italy
Baku, November 12 (AZERTAC). The Italy-based think-tank - the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) hosted a seminar called “Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy Priorities: Regional and European Dimension”.
The seminar saw reports by Ettore Greco - Director, Istituto Affari Internazionali, Rome; Paul Goble - Adjunct Professor at the Institute of World Politics, Washington, US and Co-editor of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy`s online publication Azerbaijan in the World; Licinia Simao - Assistant Professor in International Relations and Researcher at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra, Portugal.
Dr. Kamal Makili-Aliyev, leading research fellow of Center for Strategic Studies (SAM) made a presentation of the outline of his paper called “Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan: between East and West”.
The reporters provided information on successful reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in the past 20 years, main priorities of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy by assessing the old and new trends in its relations with the regional factors (from Central Asia to Russia, Iran, Turkey and Israel) and international players (the EU, US, NATO), the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh dispute, energy policy, activity with regional and international organizations, integration to the Euro-Atlantic institutions and other issues.
The seminar attended by representatives of Italian academic, government and business bodies, mass media and diplomatic corps accredited in Rome.
