Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
A panel session titled “Green Innovation Districts Where Climate Action, Innovation, and Community Meet” was organized as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
The event discussed the role of innovation districts in promoting sustainable development and a green economy. It was noted that such districts can serve as replicable models for urban development and contribute to the formation of a more sustainable economy.
Speakers emphasized that innovation districts act as “living laboratories” for green urban development. They enable the development of sustainable housing solutions, clean energy and green technologies, as well as the creation of an ecologically safe urban environment.
It was also highlighted that this approach serves to improve the quality of life for communities and create more sustainable living environments.
The development of green innovation districts relies heavily on government policy, green licensing, intellectual property approaches, and new financing mechanisms.
It was noted that cooperation between governments, financial institutions, and the private sector makes it possible to align the fight against climate change with economic development.
In conclusion, it was stated that such models can be applied in various cities and can contribute to solving global urban problems.
