Russian "Gazprom" increases twice purchases of the Azerbaijani gas
Moscow, January 23 (AZERTAC). As was earlier reported, today in the presence of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the head of “Gazprom” Aleksey Miller and the President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev have signed additional contract on purchase and sale of the Azerbaijani natural gas.
Under the document, in 2012 the volume of purchase of gas from Azerbaijan will increase by 1,5 to 3 billion cubic meters a year, and since 2013 it will exceed 3 billion cubic meters.
Aleksey Miller and Rovnag Abdullayev gave appreciation to dynamically developing interaction of the companies in oil and gas sphere, also noting that strengthening of cooperation of "Gazprom" and SOCAR is adequate to strategic interests of both countries.
“It is the second year we successively double purchases of the Azerbaijani gas. The Russian-Azerbaijan energy partnership develops dynamically what is evidence to mutual aspiration and further to increase volumes of deliveries of hydrocarbons. Absence of the top level of volumes of the purchase of gas, territorial neighborhood, presence of good gas-transport infrastructure, exception of transit zones allow Azerbaijan most economically to export natural gas to Russia”, Aleksey Miller underlined.
It is necessary to note that on October 14, 2009 Gazprom and SOCAR have signed the contract on purchase and sale of the Azerbaijani gas. Since January 1 the Azerbaijani gas began to arrive for the first time to Russia, and the volume of deliveries within 2010 made 0,8 billion cubic meters
On September 3, 2010 Gazprom and SOCAR signed additional contract on purchase and sale of the Azerbaijani natural gas. In 2011, Azerbaijan delivered to Russia 1,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
