THE PRESIDENT ATTENDS CEREMONY FOR COMMISSIONING SUGAR REFINERY PLANT
President Ilham Aliyev today also attended a ceremony for commissioning Sugar Refinery Plant in Imishli. Mr. Abdulbari Gozal, the President of the Azersun Holding Group of Companies, which operates the plant, provided the Azerbaijani leader with information about the plant. He said: “Blessed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, construction of the plant began in 2003. Ninety percent of the workforce involved in the construction, were citizens of Azerbaijan, and the remaining ten percent were those of Turkey, Ukraine, Czechia, Poland, Germany and Iran. Given that sugar production is planned to reach 180-200 thousand tons in 2006, the plant will not only satisfy local demand but also export its produce. The plant will give a powerful impetus to development of industrial and agricultural sector in Azerbaijan.”
President Ilham Aliyev pressed a button symbolizing an official start-up of the plant, and then toured the plant’s facilities.
Afterwards, President made a speech at the ceremony.
