TRADE TURNOVER BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND TURKMENISTAN RISES 8-FOLD
Trade between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan surged eight times to $0.5 billion for the past ten months, Turkmenistan`s ambassador to Azerbaijan Annamammad Mammadov said.
During their reciprocal visits, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow of Turkmenistan agreed their standpoints on the cooperation in a variety of fields. Eleven agreements signed lay a legal framework for expanding bilateral ties. Four of the signed agreements are to regulate motor, railway and ferry traffic.
“Those agreements open up new opportunities for creating international transportation system in the Caspian. They are an important part of the transport corridor East-West,” said A. Mammadov.
According to him, international oil and gas conference of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan held in Baku is the evidence of successful Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan cooperation.
Mammadov pointed out that Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan intergovernmental commission on economic issues is the important mechanism for intensifying partnership in all directions.
