TURKPA SECRETARY GENERAL MEETS GREEK AMBASSADOR
Baku, September 2 (AZERTAC). Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) Ramil Hasanov has met Greek ambassador Ioannis Metaksas.
Hasanov briefed the ambassador on TURKPA`s structure and workings.
He noted the establishment of TURKPA was of both political and economic importance for not only the region, but European countries. He also underlined the role of TURKPA in development of the dialogue among countries through the parliamentary diplomacy.
Hasanov pointed out the role of TURKPA would further increase in strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region and Europe.
The Secretary General also touched upon TURKPA`s international relations, saying it continues its work to establish cooperation with OSCE PA, PACE, NATO PA, CIS PA, OIC PA, BSEC PA and other international and regional structures.
Hasanov noted TurkPA was interested in expansion of cooperation with Greece.
Ambassador Metaksas, in turn, praised TURKPA`s work to establish cooperation with international organizations. He wished successes to the activities of the Organization.
The discussions also focused on development of interparliamentary ties among Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Greece.
The sides also underlined the importance of development of cooperation in energy sphere.
The Greek ambassador was presented with the Assembly`s collection of documents and keepsake.
TURKPA`s Deputy Secretary General, Kazakhstan`s representative in the Organization Mels Semgaliyev was present in the meeting.
