UNICEF PREPARED REPORT ON SITUATION IN CHILDREN’ RIGHTS IN AZERBAIJAN
The head of representation of UNICEF in Azerbaijan ms. Hanaa Singer has told about the lead analysis of condition of the rights of the child in the country, the work directed on improvement of legislative base. She has highly estimated cooperation of Azerbaijan with UNICEF, creation in Milli Majlis of the Children's Parliament.
Then, professor Carolina Hamilton informed on the report. She has informed, that the document has been prepared on the basis of the report on protection of the rights of the child presented by the Azerbaijan government to the United Nations, on results and the analysis of the monitoring lead by the country. The Report reflects condition of the rights of the child in Azerbaijan, the level of the laws accepted in said field, performance of requirements of the international conventions and other questions. As a whole, the condition of the rights of the child in the country is estimated positively. Nevertheless, as over the world, there are certain problems and in Azerbaijan in this field. The Report includes various proposals to eliminate the shortages. Among them is specialization of judges and lawyers exclusively on the rights of child, the rule of conviction of children and teenagers who have made crime, improvement of police engaged in this sphere and other offers. Members of the Committee and the invited experts spoke about the vital issues in the field of protection of the rights of the child. As a whole, they have positively estimated the report.
