US hosts conference on “Azerbaijan as regional hub of Central Eurasia”
Baku, September 28 (AZERTAC). The Institute of the Central Asia and Caucasus at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington hosted a conference on "Azerbaijan as a regional hub of Central Eurasia: Strategic assessment of trade and transport between Europe and Asia".
The event held a presentation of the book by employee of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) Taleh Ziyadov, devoted to this topic.
The study provides a strategic analysis of the Euro-Asian trade, transportation and logistics networks through Central Eurasia, identifying key strategies for Azerbaijan. It proposes an integrated ‘bird’s eye approach’ in developing the country’s non-oil economy and offers one of many views on what “Azerbaijan 2030” hub vision may look like and how it could be successfully implemented.
Speaking at the conference, Director of the Central Asia and Caucasus Institute at the Johns Hopkins University, Professor Frederick Starr spoke about the significance of the event.
“Azerbaijan has and will continue to play a key role in Central Eurasia, helping to shape a common vision for the region and facilitate its transformation. Its vast natural resources could stimulate the development of its non-oil economy and revive non-oil trade in the region, restoring its historical position as a commercial hub along the ancient Silk Road. By 2030, the country could be a prosperous regional hub in Central Eurasia” the speakers highlighted.
As a whole, the event gathered together famous politicians, economists, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited to the USA and the media.
