Washington hosts discussions on TANAP
Baku, November 3 (AZERTAC). Washington has hosted discussions on implementation of Trans-Anatolian Pipeline Agreement (TANAP).
The meeting moderated by Michael Ratner, Specialist in Energy Policy of Congressional Research Service, hosted the presentation of the joint research by Michael Cain, a professor of political science at St. Mary's College of Maryland (USA), Fevzi Bilgin, the executive director of the Rethink Institute in Washington, and Rovshan Ibrahimov, the head of Foreign Policy Analysis Department at Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that TANAP is of great importance not only for Turkey, but also for Europe.
The pipeline, which is estimated to cost $7 billion, will transport 16 billion cubic meters of gas each year from Azerbaijan to Turkey, with most of the gas volumes going to Europe.
TANAP was praised as a significant step in region’s integration. The interest towards TANAP is great and it is important in expansion of Azerbaijan’s both political and economic relations.
TANAP is a proposed natural gas pipeline from Azerbaijan through Turkey to Europe. If constructed, it would transport gas from the second stage of the Shah Deniz gas field.
