Works by Azerbaijani artist to be exhibited in Washington
Baku, August 20 (AZERTAC). An exhibition of famous Azerbaijani artist Kamil Najafzade (1929-2011) will be held in Washington between 28 August and 27 September.
About 50 pictures of the painter, as well as didactic materials demonstrating his love for his family and homeland will be exhibited at Pepco Edison gallery. The statement came from the public charity fund Karabakh, which is the organizer of the event.
Headquartered in Washington, the fund works to raise US awareness and understanding of the cultural heritage and traditions of Azerbaijan and its Karabakh region, as well as the entire Caucasus.
When working as a designer in film industry, Najafzade created the external image of 40 feature films and gave a tendency to the modern artistic heritage of Azerbaijan.
Najafzade was among the first modern Azerbaijani painters exhibiting in the United States.
According to the Karabakh foundation, the exhibition of Najafzade`s work in Washington a year after his death is aimed to demonstrate not only his talent of a painter but also show him as a person who was able to set the atmosphere of love and creativity in his family.
As part of the exhibition, son of the painter, director Shamil Najafzade`s movies will be demonstrated.
