YES MARKS 8th ANNIVERSARY IN BAKU
Baku, September 17 (AZERTAC). Youth Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Campaign, YES, has held a celebrative event to mark the 8th anniversary of its founding.
Speaking to the event, YES` regional coordinator Rovshan Muradov highlighted the organization`s activities.
He said YES` regional branch in Azerbaijan was established due to personal efforts of the country`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO good will ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.
Muradov praised the Azerbaijani government`s support to the organization, thanking, in particular, the President and the First Lady.
Special envoy to the Secretary General on United Nations, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union, Latvian ex-president Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga spoke of youth unemployment and world economic crisis. She praised the Azeri government`s placing importance on YES.
Hijran Huseynova, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, said YES made “great” contribution to solving social problems of youth and fighting human trafficking and drug addiction in the country.
She said the Azerbaijani government would further support the organizations` projects.
Other speakers, including MPs Ganira Pashayeva, Guler Ahmadova and Gultakin Hajiyeva hailed activities of the organization.
The YES Campaign was launched by 1600 delegates from 120 countries at the Alexandria Youth Employment Summit, in Egypt on September 11, 2002.
