Zeman to bestow White Lion on King Abdullah II of Jordan
Prague, February 10, AZERTAC
Czech President Miloš Zeman will bestow the highest state decoration, the Order of the White Lion, on Jordanian King Abdullah II, express support for Abdullah's fight against terrorism and call for a broad support for Arab countries during his forthcoming visit to Jordan, he said today.
Speaking in a discussion that tabloid Blesk transmitted live from the presidential chateau in Lány, central Bohemia, Zeman dismissed the opinion that Arab countries should cope with terrorism by themselves.
Once again he said this is as if Germans had been advised to cope with Hitler by themselves.
Zeman said he is against the introduction of border checks inside the Schengen area, because this would mean the end of Schengen and a restriction of the freedom of movement.
He said border checks should not be used to fight Islamist terrorists.
An effective operation would be the liquidation of the military and training bases of terrorism all over the world, he pointed out.
Zeman is leaving for an official visit to Jordan on Monday. Apart from Jordan, he will also visit the United Arab Emirates.
As usual, he will be accompanied by a delegation of businesspeople.
According to official information, Zeman will discuss security questions related to Islamic State (IS) with leaders of Jordan and the UAE.
