Baku, May 18, AZERTAC
“In the conditions of rapid development of cities, the issue of urban health is of particular importance. As urbanization increases, people’s health and well-being become directly dependent on living conditions in urban environments,” Natalie Roebbel, Lead for Urban Health at the World Health Organization (WHO), participating in the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), told AZERTAC.
Noting that decisions in transport, energy, housing, agriculture, and other sectors significantly influence public health, she added: “WUF13 is a crucial platform for discussing the planning of health-promoting cities and the transformation of existing urban areas in this direction. Air pollution and limited mobility in cities have a direct impact on physical and overall health. Therefore, sustainable urban policy is a key determinant of both health and well-being.”
