Azerbaijani Prosecutor General meets with OSCE/ODIHR observation mission head

Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Zakir Garalov has met with head of the election observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Corien Jonker.
Garalov highlighted what the Azerbaijani government has done to ensure that elections are held in a democratic and transparent manner and voters freely express their will. He also provided detailed information about the tasks assigned to the prosecution authorities in connection with the violation of the electoral legislation.
Garalov emphasized that a special working group is set up to ensure prompt investigation of criminal reports submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding law violations during the voting process.
Jonker highlighted the activities and goals of the observation mission. She said that the election mission will attach special importance to cooperation with the working group established under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
