ARMENIA STALLS SETTLEMENT OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT, AZERI FM
Baku, May 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s foreign minister has reaffirmed his condemnation of Armenia`s “stalling tactics” in the process of finding a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In a talk with journalists, Elmar Mammadyarov said: “I condemn the Armenian side`s position as they are hampering the peace talks.”
The FM highlighted mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, saying the co-chairs “have already updated the Madrid principles and submitted the new version to the sides”.
“Over the last two years we`ve had wide negotiations. The co-chars have been visiting the region, and the presidents have had 9 meetings.”
Mammadyarov expressed his country`s readiness to work on the basis of the updated version of the Madrid principles to try to find a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute.
“Azerbaijan, in principal, accepts the document and is ready to embark on the work to draw up a larger peace agreement on the basis of the updated Madrid principles.”
“But Armenia has not yet given its response concerning this document, and this is why the peace process is hampered, which is a very negative case,” said Mammadyarov.
