Azerbaijan, Bulgaria discuss ways of strengthening cooperation
Baku, February 20 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have explored how to strengthen their cooperation as Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov met Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.
Asadov said Azerbaijan paid special attention to developing its relationship with Bulgaria. “There is a favorable legal framework to get this done. More than 40 documents have been signed between the two countries, adding another 13 are ready for the signing.”
Asadov underlined the opportunity for increasing the bilateral trade.
Speaking on the regional projects, the Speaker stressed Azerbaijan`s role in regional and European energy security.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Asadov expressed regret over the fact that “mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group, the talks, that last for more than 20 years, to find a peaceful solution to the dispute have not yet produced any results”.
He said Armenia had continued to disregard the UN Security Council`s resolutions and documents of other international organizations, and has kept 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories under occupation.
PM Plamen Oresharski hailed relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan on all fronts, particularly in the energy sector.
He stressed the importance of documents on energy cooperation, which were signed during his last Azerbaijan trip.
