Azerbaijan, Morocco discuss prospects for developing cooperation
Baku, February 22 (AZERTAC). First Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov has met a Moroccan delegation led by chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Islamic Affairs and Moroccans Residing Abroad Ali Kabiri to discuss prospects for developing cooperation.
Asgarov highlighted friendly relations between the two countries, the country’s economic development, Azerbaijan-initiated large-scale projects in the region, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He also noted the reciprocal visits contributed to the bilateral ties.
The First Deputy Speaker said Azerbaijan and Morocco had good relations on all fronts, particularly in the field of politics.
Asgarov noted 12 documents had been signed between the two countries, adding another 12 are ready for the signing.
He stressed the necessity of expanding trade relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Deputy Speaker said 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories had been kept under occupation by Armenia.
Asgarov noted official Yerevan still refused to honor the UN Security Council`s four resolutions and other documents of international organizations on the settlement of the dispute.
He also thanked the Government of Morocco for supporting Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
The Deputy Speaker provided an insight into the Khojaly tragedy committed by Armenians.
Kabiri said they had eye-witnessed rapid economic development in Azerbaijan. The MP noted the Azerbaijan-Morocco bonds had been developing in a variety of fields.
They stressed the important role of the friendship groups at the two countries` parliaments in boosting the bilateral ties.
Kabiri also noted Morocco had always supported Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
