Azerbaijan, Netherlands discuss expansion of relations
Baku, June 27 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and the Netherlands have explored ways of expanding the bilateral relations as ambassador Mir-Hamza Efendiyev met speaker of the Dutch Royal Senate Anki Brokers-Noll.
Efendiyev highlighted political and economic situation in Azerbaijan. He said Azerbaijan was a donor for the countries in need of humanitarian assistance, adding the country had already become an investor.
Brokers-Noll said she was well aware of Azerbaijan`s rapid socio-economic development in last years. She shared her thoughts on prospects for development of the economic relations between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands. Brokers-Noll stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits between the two countries.
The ambassador emphasized the significance of developing the bilateral interparliamentary ties.
On Azerbaijan`s foreign policy, Efendiyev said that Azerbaijan maintained good relations with all neighbors, except for Armenia, which had occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s lands.
“Unfortunately, despite Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, which lasts for more than 20 years, the international community has not yet given necessary legal assessment to Armenia`s crimes.”
The ambassador said Azerbaijan took over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. He highlighted the country`s priorities during the presidency, saying they included protecting human rights, ensuring rule of law and developing democracy.
