Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy travels to Friuli–Venezia Giulia region
Baku, December 7 (AZERTAC). The ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy Vagif Sadikhov on Monday made a business trip to Friuli-Venetia Giulia region of Italy.
The purpose of the trip was to establish and develop cooperation with management, business and academic communities of the region.
During the trip Sadikhov visited well-known International Center for Theoretical Physics, located in Trieste, capital of the region. The Center, supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency and UNESCO, is known as a center for advanced study and research in physics and mathematics.
The Azerbaijani diplomat met director of the Center Fernando Quevedo and staff members discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperation with between Azerbaijani scientists and experts and the Center and their active participation in programs and projects implemented here.
The Azerbaijan ambassador also met with Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Trieste Vittorio Pedikkio. The sides discussed measures to promote cooperation between business leaders of both countries.
Vagif Sadikhov also met with the deputy mayor of the city of Trieste Mrs. Fabian Martini.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the twenty regions of Italy, and one of five autonomous regions with special statute, with a capital in Trieste.
It encompasses the historical-geographical region of Friuli and the geographical region of Venezia Giulia, each with its own distinct history, traditions and identity.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia is famous for its mixtures of dishes stemming from both Friulani and Giuliani traditions with influences from key cities such as Udine, Trieste and Venice. Friuli-Venezia Giulia is also known for its fine wine.
