AZERBAIJANI MINISTER OF JUSTICE MEETS WITH HEAD OF SUPREME COURT OF AUSTRIA
Minister F. Mammadov stressed that national leader Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Vienna in July 2000 marked a new chapter in the bilateral relations
Minister of Justice updated Johann Rzeszut on the ongoing democratic reforms in Azerbaijan as well as those being implemented in the legal and judicial fields. He told of the work done since January 19, 2006 when President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on modernization of the judicial system and expressed hope that a memorandum of understanding signed by the Supreme Courts of Azerbaijan and Austria will make a great contribution to the judicial systems of both countries.
The sides described the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria as steadily developing and highly appreciated mutual visits of Justice Ministers of Austria and Azerbaijan and documents signed among justice and prosecution bodies of both countries.
The Austrian counterpart was optimistic about judicial and legal reforms in Azerbaijan and positively assessed the activity of the Judicial and Legal Council. He said Austria is ready to expand legal cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Upon completion of the meeting, Johann Rzeszut familiarized himself with the exhibits of the Heydar Aliyev Museum and Justice History Museum and added his comments to the guest book.
Deputy Justice Minister Togrul Musayev was present at the meeting.
