Azerbaijani websites suffer hacker attacks
Baku, January 17 (AZERTAC). A series of hack attacks have on Monday struck the websites of different organizations, hosted on the servers of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technology`s Information Centre and the Special State Protection Service.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology of Azerbaijan Elmir Valizade said as a result of the attacks a number of websites of the state organizations encountered problems in their work.
“As soon as this happened, the ICT Ministry and the relevant structures took control of the situation and started analysis and additional important protection measures. The forms of the attacks, sending of immediate e-mails to the media and the fact that they were mounted from different locations show that they were deliberate. But they did not cause serious disruption thanks to work done to ensure use of the Internet and create secure websites. The operation of the websites attacked by the hackers was restored.
Hacking is a daily occurrence in different countries and we condemn this as illegal and call for such actions to stop. A thorough investigation is under way and steps will be taken in accordance with international experience. The public will be kept informed,” the Deputy Minister added.
