AZERBAIJAN`S REPUBLIC DAY MARKED IN TURKMENISTAN
Baku, May 31 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s embassy in Turkmenistan has arranged an event to mark May 28th - Republic Day.
The event was attended by Turkmen officials, including Rashid Meredov, deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and minister of foreign affairs, diplomats, members of the Azerbaijani community, businessmen and journalists.
Addressing the event, ambassador Vahdat Sultanzade highlighted the historical importance of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
The diplomat spoke of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s cervices to his country and people, and also praised President Ilham Aliyev`s role in Azerbaijan`s development.
The ambassador, in particular, told of the President`s diplomatic efforts towards finding a solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
On bilateral relationship, Sultanzade praised a high-level dialogue between the Azerbaijani and Turkmen presidents, saying it contributes to developing the two countries` relations.
Meredov congratulated the Azerbaijani President and his people on behalf of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.
He also praised political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
