AZERI MPS MEET MEMBERS OF EUROPEAN AZERBAIJAN SOCIETY
Baku, June 7 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani MPs have met today with visiting members the board of the European Azerbaijan Society.
Deputy chair of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) standing committee on economic policy Chingiz Asadullayev spoke of the current state of Azerbaijan-UK relations.
He noted after regaining its independence Azerbaijan is rapidly integrating into Europe, adding “expansion of relations with European countries, especially with the UK is the main priority of official Baku`s foreign policy. According to him, The European Azerbaijan Society assists Azerbaijan in this respect.
He underlined the Society is playing an important role in informing the European community about Azerbaijan.
MPs Rovshan Rzayev and Asim Mollazade gave full information on Azerbaijan`s economic development, democratic institutions and international cooperation.
Touching upon Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the MPs stressed there is the need to apply international law in the dispute.
They underlined “Armenia, which occupied Azerbaijan`s territories, holds ‘elections’ in occupied territories of our country disregarding international legal norms and principles.”
They also expressed regret that MPs of some countries, including those from the UK attended the “elections”.
They also stressed the importance for British Parliament to adopt the decision supporting Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, which had been done by the German Bundestag and Italian Parliament.
