AZERI OMBUDSPERSON ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN VIENNA
Baku, May 15 (AZERTAC). Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova has attended an international conference “Promotion of Gender Balance and Participation of Women in Political and Public Life” held in Vienna.
The conference featured three sessions: “Promoting gender equality in the OSCE region -Progress achieved and challenges ahead”, “Empowering women as political party members and as elected officials”, “Ensuring gender balance and women’s effective participation in public life”.
Addressing the first session, Suleymanova spoke of the human rights reforms carried out in her country. She said National Action Plan on Protection of Human Rights is being implemented in the country.
On the sidelines of the conference, Suleymanova met Peter Kostelka, Secretary General of the International Ombudsman Institute.
She also attended events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
