AZERI PUPILS` ESSAYS WIN INTERNATIONAL CONTEST
Baku, May 15 (AZERTAC). Winners of the national essay contest, carried out in 2009 among the Azeri pupils, also triumphed at international competition “Global Millennium Prize” per 15 global challenges of the millennium (www.qlobalmillenniumprize.org).
The award ceremony was held at Diego Rivera Museum in Mexico on May 12. The Azeri delegation led by Reyhan Huseynova, Head of the Azerbaijan Society of Futurologists took part in the event.
Four Azeri pupils - Ayan Aliyeva (on theme “Status of woman”), Aydan Khalafova (“World and conflict”), Shargiyya Mammadova (“Stable development”) and Lala Hasanova (“Information and communication technologies”) - were awarded the first place for Global Millennium Prize competition. Other winners include 5 pupils from Mexico and 1 from South Africa.
After the award ceremony Azeri participant Aydan Khalafova gave an interview to TELEVISA TV channel (Mexico).
Mexico`s government officials, representatives of the ministry of foreign affairs, education, non-governmental organizations and media as well as the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov and Embassy employees attended the event.
