AzerTAc launches children`s portal
Baku, July 8 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) has launched a children`s knowledge portal (portal.azertag.com).
The website, which now has only Azerbaijani and Russian versions, aims to popularize measures to pursue the state children`s policy, support knowledge and skills of children, increase their awareness of cultural and scientific achievements, historical events, outstanding personalities, and build their aesthetic taste.
The electronic resource features several sections, including Azerbaijan, News, World Around Us, Oddly Enough, Did You Know…, Grandmother`s Trunk, Photo and Video.
The Azerbaijan section provides information about national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, state symbols, and holidays. The Land of Fire sub-section gives background of the location of the country, its population, cities and regions, as well as must-see places. The History and People sub-section provides an insight into history of Azerbaijan, outstanding personalities, important events, national heroes, and ethnic groups living in the country. The Our Cultural Heritage sub-section contains information about rich culture and art of Azerbaijan, famous writers, poets, artists and musicians. There is also a special section on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which highlights the history, causes, grave consequences of the conflict, as well as features statistics on Azerbaijan`s regions under Armenian occupation.
The News section is about children-related events and novelties.
The World Around Us section provides an insight about the nature, world of animals and plants, people and space.
Information about the world history, interesting discoveries and other facts is featured in the Oddly Enough section.
The Did You Know…section features information about outstanding scientists, writers, musicians, actors, filmmakers, athletes, political figures, historical personalities, cultures and civilizations.
The Grandmother`s Trunk section tells about fairytales, proverbs, riddles.
The portal will post video, audio and animated material, as well as feature quizzes, photo and essay contests.
The website has Write to us section through which children can write letters and send photos to editors.
The School of Young Journalist section allows children learn secrets of journalism and take part in news production process. It will also teach children such terms as “fact”, “objectivity”, “problem”, “event”, “tendency”, and “commentary”. This section also highlights information genres, responsibilities of an editor, and activities of the mass media.
