Baku hosts opening ceremony of Water Week

The opening ceremony of the 2nd International Water Management Exhibition and Conference – Baku Water Week was held in Baku.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Zaur Mikayilov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, said that the first Baku Water Week, successfully held last year, highlighted the crucial importance of this prestigious platform.
In his remarks, Farid Mammadov, General Director of "Caspian Event Organisers" and Executive Director of "Iteca Caspian LLC", noted that the exhibition will showcase the latest advancements, as well as global best practices in water management. “The event brings together government agencies, international companies, experts, and professional visitors at the Baku Expo Center," he added.
Alongside Azerbaijan, over 60 companies and delegations from Austria, Belarus, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, and the United States of America are participating in Baku Water Week.
The range of products and services presented at the exhibition is extensive: analysis and laboratory technologies; banking services; pipes and pipeline equipment and products; cloud seeding technologies; flood protection and shoreline reinforcement technologies; drainage equipment; scientific research institutes; hydraulic structures; drinking water treatment; water supply and sewage; construction and drilling equipment and machinery in water supply and water management; measurement, regulation, and control technologies in water management; design and construction of water management facilities; information and communication technologies in water management; artificial intelligence in water management; education and scientific research in the water sector; irrigation systems; desalination technologies; wastewater and stormwater discharge and treatment systems.
Within the framework of Baku Water Week 2025, a rich business program is presented. Topics such as water resources management, efficient use of water, global climate change, water security, innovative approaches in water management, water diplomacy, as well as new water technologies and practices is at the forefront, and important initiatives in the field are highlighted.
The first of Baku Water Week features presentations “Complete Water Treatment Solutions”, “Achievement of the Guaranteed Results through Comprehensive Engineering of Water Supply and Wastewater Facilities”, case session “Global Climate Change: Management of Drought Risks in Azerbaijan”, as well as the expert sessions “Current State of the Caspian Sea: Problems and Solutions” and Sustainable Wastewater Management - Towards the Goals of COP29.
On the second day of “Baku Water Week 2025” – 11 September – the 2nd International Conference for Water Management, organised by Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, will be held. The conference, which will take place at the Baku Expo Centre, will once again present an extensive and diverse programme with the participation of representatives of relevant state institutions, international organisations, private sector leaders, as well as leading local and international experts in the field. More than 40 speakers from nearly 10 countries are expected to address the conference.
During the three days of Baku Water Week, the foyer of the Baku Expo Centre features installations of the Zabukhchay Reservoir – the first reservoir of Liberated Karabakh, the Gate Valve waterwheel, Hovsan Aeration Station, Baku Water Supply, Oghuz-Qabala Water Supply System, as well as installation on the history of water. In addition, members of the “Ümid var” Inclusive Society showcase their artworks under the theme “Baku Water Week 2025 Through the Brush of the Differents” in Pavilion No. 1.
The organisers of the event are Caspian Event Organisers and its international partners Caspian Event Management and ICA Events. The project is also supported by the Azerbaijan Exhibition Organisers Association (ASTA).
