Baku hosts “roundtable” on “Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future” development conception
Baku, December 29 (AzerTac). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an executive order on preparation of the “Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future” development conception
Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev held a “roundtable” related to the preparation of the “Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future” development conception.
The event brought together Azerbaijan`s state and government officials, MPs, renowned scientists and representatives of think tanks.
Opening the roundtable Mehdiyev said everyone understands how much important the topic of discussion is. The President`s order tasked respective governmental bodies with preparation of the “Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future” development conception, which will define the future development of the country. According to him, this roundtable can be considered the first and important experience.
President Ilham Aliyev`s order on preparation of the “Azerbaijan 2020: vision into the future” development conception is related to Azerbaijan`s entering the new development era, said Head of the Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev.
Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev underlined the main directions of the conception in the economic field are achievement of the sustainable development due to the expansion of the non-oil sector, diversification of economic development, reduction of the factor of natural resources in the GDP and state budget, emphasis on non-oil factor, creation of strong motivation mechanisms to introduce innovations in the economy, improvement of the country`s competitiveness.
According to Mehdiyev, the conception should incorporate the poverty reduction policy, social security of needy families, role and place of the middle class.
The Academician noted the document would also envisage measures to step up the government`s efforts to ensure peace, stability and security in the region and world.
Mehdiyev pointed out the world’s best practices must be used in the document. To this end, foreign specialists as well as public and governmental organizations must be attracted to prepare the conception.
To prepare the conception, the commission and working groups will be set up, he said.
