Cheri Reddin: Indigenous peoples in Canada face barriers when accessing housing finance
Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
Indigenous peoples in Canada face significant barriers when accessing housing finance and alternative capital, said Cheri Reddin, who has worked in the Government of Canada across a range of departments, as she addressed the roundtable on “The Rights of Indigenous Peoples Roundtable, held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
She said that in the Canadian context, the concept of "indigenous peoples" covers three different groups: First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
According to her, there are significant differences between these peoples, as well as within them, in terms of culture, traditions and the problems they face.
