CO-CHAIRMAN OF CONGRESSIONAL AZERBAIJAN CAUCUS CONGRATULATES AZERBAIJANI PEOPLE ON REPUBLIC DAY
Washington, May 15 (AZERTAC). Co-chairman of the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus Solomon Ortiz congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the Day of Republic.
Ortiz said Azerbaijan, located between Russia and Iran and at a very political, dynamic and sensitive region, is a partner of the United States.
He noted as a developing democracy, Azerbaijan became a full member of the Council of Europe, United Nations and OSCE.
He added as a strategic ally of the United States, Azerbaijan cooperates with it on economic and security issues.
Ortiz noted Azerbaijan, sending soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan, demonstrated its alliance to the United States, as well.
Solomon Ortiz, who is also chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, pointed out Azerbaijan is an important part of NATO`s Partnership for Peace Program (PfP) and works with regional countries to strengthen borders and to prevent illegal trade.
He underlined Azerbaijan`s vigorous oil market influence strengthening of Western countries` economy.
He thanked the Azerbaijani people for stepping towards democracy and for its prominent partnership in the region and world.
“The United States congratulates the Azerbaijani citizens and world Azerbaijanis for the Day of Republic.”
