CoE DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL MEETS AZERI MPs
Baku, 25 May (AZERTAC). Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer-Buquicchio has met Azeri parliamentarians who are part of the organization`s working group on the “Building a Europe for and with Children” Program.
Gular Ahmadova, the group`s Secretary, highlighted the Azeri government`s efforts towards strengthening the protection of children`s rights.
Ahmadova stressed the role of the Program`s head, Azerbaijan`s first lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva in solving problems of children and families.
Other MPs highlighted the government`s care for children and youth.
De Boer-Buquicchio praised the Azerbaijani government`s reforms to solve problems of children.
“Problems of CoE member states are our problems. We know that regional problems have negative spiritual and psychological affect on the people. That is why, we regard that regional conflicts, particularly the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh problem must be settled as soon as possible by peaceful means.”
