‘COE’s Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan’
Baku, April 11 (AZERTAC). Ambassadors of the Committee of Ministers’ Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy of the Council of Europe today have visited Azerbaijan’s Parliament to meet representatives of the country’s delegation to PACE.
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, chairman of Parliament’s committee for international and interparliamentary relations Samad Seyidov stressed the significance of activities of the Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy. Samadov said “objective, transparent and unbiased position of all organizations, which work with the developing Azerbaijan, is of great importance for us”.
“Azerbaijan has attained great accomplishments in the world and region for a short time. Baku hosts international events which are home to world`s political leaders and managers of the global economy. Holding of the World Economic Forum in Baku is a brilliant example to it”, Samadov underlined.
The MP said relations of Azerbaijan in different areas are always developing. “However, occupation of territories of CEO`s full member Azerbaijan by another member of the organization Armenia impedes to this development, and poses a threat to the whole region. We want that the Council of Europe`s Committee of Ministers ensure rule of international law. We are ready to cooperate in this regard”, Samadov said.
Ambassador Urszula Gacek, Permanent Representative of Poland to the Council of Europe said the Committee of Ministers’ Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy was interested in development of relations and mutual beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan.
She said the Group`s visit aims to become familiar with processes in Azerbaijan more closely.
Ambassadors are expected to have several meetings in Baku. “We believe that our effective cooperation with Azerbaijan will further expand”, Gacek said.
The sides also exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including prospects of development of Azerbaijan-COE relations.
