COFFIN WITH BODY OF PRESIDENT HEYDAR ALIYEV DELIVERED TO HOMELAND
During the period of leadership, Heydar Aliyev helped his native land, Azerbaijan – the country whose progress was his constant goal and whose rich culture and historical past were his pride – overcome many severe trials.
As an outstanding politician and statesman and unconditional leader of the people, he became a living legend even when he was alive. For all these years, it was Heydar Aliyev who has managed to bring truth on Azerbaijan to the world and prevent the country from isolation from the international community.
As a head of State, Heydar Aliyev has always shown unexampled selflessness in the name of his people. Owing to his vivid political wisdom and talent, he created new Azerbaijan, its today’s realities and defined the country’s path to the future.

Coffin with body of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev was delivered to Baku on December 14. Present at the Bina international airport were President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, members of the Aliyevs family, members of the State Committee for Organization of Funeral, government officials.
Boeing 747 delivering the coffin with body of President Heydar Aliyev landed at 13.00 a.m. Commander of the guard of honor reported to the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev. The Head of State boarded the plane.
The coffin covered by the state flag of Azerbaijan was carried out by the Azerbaijan Army soldiers and placed on the catafalque, funeral cortege departed to the capital. Tens thousand of people stood in silence along the way from airport to Baku spangled with red pinks.
The body of President Heydar Aliyev was delivered to “Tazapir” Mosque.
Mourning cortege came up to the Tazapir Mosque.
From early morning, religious figures gathered in the mosque prayed for peace of soul of the great son of Azerbaijan people.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, relatives of the late, members of the State Commission for Funerals entered the mosque.
Chairman of the Clerical Office of Muslims of Caucasus Sheikh ul-islam haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh said the requiem prayer. Then, turning to audience he said: “when I met President Heydar Aliyev last time I invited him to Tazapir by saying that he had not been here. He promised to come. But today, we regret that his body was brought here. Passing away of personality of such caliber as Heydar Aliyev is the irreplaceable loss for us, Muslims. We will always be grateful to Heydar Aliyev‘s care of all religions and religious figures in Azerbaijan, for help in repairing and constructing of temples. May Allah rest his soul in peace!”.
The body of the late was washed in accordance with Islamic traditions and sharia. After placing the coffin in the big hall jenaze-namaz was said.
